About ChiefChaz: Chief (Chaz Clark) is a retired 15 year veteran Texas Police Officer, Former North Texas Police Chief, SWAT Officer, Undercover Narcotics Investigator, Private investigator and Executive/Celebrity Protection bodyguard. Why is he not anymore? After a devestating knee injury in 2007, enduring 2 knee surgeries and 2 years of physical therapy, Chief had to retire early from his law enforcement career. After that Chief focused on continuing to do what he loved to do most, help people in need, by pursing his investigative and bodyguard work full time, and eventually obtaining his Bodyguard instructor license through the Texas Department of Public Safety Private Security Bureau. Being a former licensed police instructor, former SWAT and firearms expert, Chief began teaching level 3 security classes focusing on defensive tactics (Chief has been an Aikido martial artist for 12 years and a Jeet Kune Do martial artist for 11 years, and is a certified apprentice instructor). In 2010 Chief was involved in a bad motorcycle accident while trying to miss a dog in the road, Chief lost control of his 2008 Suzuki Hayabusa and and went down, striking a telephone pole with his head sustaining a severe concussion and other injuries. Not soon after that Chief was involved in an incident in Hurst Texas where he sustained a severe break to his right wrist (crushed scaphoid bone, and recieved a torn rotator cuff.) These injuries put Chief out long enough where his Instructor license, Bodyguard license and PI license expired. With the severity of the wrist injury and the screw permenantly placed in his right wrist, Chief was unable to requalify for his licenses because of his inability to shoot right handed anymore. Being a former sharpshooter and expert marksman, this was devestating to Chief. Being a single parent raising his two youngest children since they were 2 years old, Chief took a job in advertising and web development for a local company to pay the bills and support his children and continued teaching martial arts part time with his friend and mentor, Soke Mitch Maynard (Jeet Kune Do Federation). With the eagerness to continue doing what he loves to do, help people and do his part to make a difference in society, Chief has taken up public speaking, discussing his law enforcement background, the importance of God and the difference God, Family and love had made in Chiefs life, and in 2008 founded "The Lonestar Reptile Rescue a charity Reptile Rescue, Education and Rehabilitation program. Through this program he adopts and rehomes unwanted, abused or neglected reptiles to experienced handlers and Zoos. LSRR also rehabilitates sick or injured reptiles at no cost to reptile owners, any and all proceeds that are donated go back into LSRR. Chief has a Commercial and Recreational permit with The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department, for Nonindigenous reptiles, which to those who know Chief personally find it hard to believe after knowing about Chiefs great fear of snakes his entire life up until a chance encounter in 2007 with world renowned snake wrangler and stuntman "The Texas Snakeman" Jackie Bibby (Animal Planets "Rattlesnake Republic Show). Jackie not only cured Chiefs fear of snakes but inspired Chief and changed his fear into fascination and love for all reptiles.
Though many rough roads traveled in his life one thing can be said about Chief... He never gives up, fear is not in his vocabulary and he carries a heart of gold and compassion for all Gods children, human or animal! When you talk to Chief you will see that he always looks for the positive in any situation no matter how negative it may seem. Chief will tell you "Today is always a good day when you are blessed by the good Lord with the opportunity to open your eyes in the morning to face another day". Its Chiefs extreme faith and love for God, Family and Country that keeps his head up and striving to give as much as he can of himself, to do a small part to make this world a better place!
